Menteri Agama Nasaruddin Umar mendukung keinginan Gubernur Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) terpilih Lalu Muhamad Iqbal dalam memajukan ekonomi keumatan dan kemandirian pondok pesantren (ponpes) di wilayah setempat.
Hal ini disampaikan Menteri Agama (Menag), Nasaruddin Umar saat menerima silaturahim Gubernur Provinsi NTB terpilih, Lalu Muhamad Iqbal melalui keterangan tertulis diterima di Mataram, Sabtu.
Dalam pembicaraannya dengan Nasaruddin Umar, Iqbal mengaku ekonomi keumatan serta kemandirian ponpes menjadi hal penting dalam memajukan Provinsi NTB. Oleh karenanya, hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan isu keumatan perlu dibahas lebih serius. Dengan begitu, nantinya program keumatan dapat tepat sasaran.
“Saya senang sekali mendapat dukungan dan apresiasi dari Pak Prof Nasaruddin Umar (Menag),” ujarnya
Iqbal mengatakan dalam pertemuannya bersama Menag, ia juga membahas langkah untuk memajukan institusi pendidikan keagamaan. Peran pendidikan agama cukup vital untuk kemajuan daerah. Mendidik dan menyiapkan kader berkarakter yang baik untuk Provinsi NTB di masa depan. “Tidak kalah penting juga membahas kemandirian pesantren dan ekonomi pesantren,” ucap Iqbal.
Menurut dia, upaya ini sejalan dengan program Iqbal-Dinda yang mendorong generasi muda NTB untuk mengambil peran dalam pembangunan di NTB, maka santri-santriwati juga dapat ikut terlibat.
“Untuk menuju Indonesia emas 2045, dari pesantren juga harus kita siapkan,” katanya.
Menyinggung posisi Kanwil Kemenag di Provinsi NTB, lanjutnya, sebagai salah satu pilar pemajuan umat dan pesantren di NTB. “NTB bukan hanya provinsi seribu masjid, tapi juga seribu pesantren,” ujar Iqbal.
Di Provinsi NTB lebih banyak siswa pesantren ketimbang sekolah negeri. Pesantren menjadi elemen penting untuk mencerdaskan masyarakat NTB.
“Dari sejarah bangsa ini jelas sekali peran dari pondok pesantren untuk kemajuan,” ucap lulusan Ponpes Assalam, Surakarta ini.
Sementara itu, Menag Nasaruddin Umar yakin dengan kepemimpinan Provinsi NTB di masa depan, Iqbal dipandang memiliki wawasan, pengalaman dan reputasi yang baik.
