Ketua Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) RI Mochammad Afifuddin mengatakan bahwa lembaganya mengikuti aturan yang ada untuk menanggapi wacana terkait kepala daerah dipilih DPRD.
“Kami sebagai penyelenggara dalam konteks ini, ya akan menjalankan sebagaimana aturan saja,” kata Afifuddin, di Kantor KPU RI, Jakarta, Jumat (13/12).
Dia menjelaskan bahwa diskursus mengenai pemilihan kepala daerah oleh DPRD bukan menjadi hal yang baru di Indonesia.
“Sama seperti menjelang 2024, kita berdiskusi seputar apakah kita kembali mengalami sistem proporsional dengan daftar nama terbuka, tertutup. Itu kan sempat muncul juga dinamikanya, tetapi pada saat tertentu dan pada saat akhir, kita harus menjalankan apa yang menjadi amanat undang-undang,” katanya lagi.
Ia menilai wacana idealitas pemilihan kepala daerah tidak menjadi salah satu dinamika pasca-pilkada saja, tetapi tetap perlu dianggap penting.
“Inilah pentingnya evaluasi, pentingnya diskursus, yang nanti bagaimanapun yang kita pilih, langkah apa pun itu, harus dimulai dari aturan atau undang-undang yang menurut rencana menjadi prolegnas (program legislasi nasional),” ujarnya pula.
