Pelatih Madura United Paulo Menezes menegaskan timnya mengusung misi mencuri poin dari kandang Borneo FC pada pekan ke-15 Liga 1 Indonesia di Stadion Batakan, Balikpapan, Sabtu malam.
Dikutip dari laman resmi Liga Indonesia, Sabtu, Paulo Menezes menjelaskan kini Madura United tengah dalam situasi tidak ideal setelah menelan lima kekalahan beruntun pada kompetisi Liga 1 Indonesia.
Meskipun begitu, Menezes menyadari laga menghadapi Madura United tidak akan mudah, terlebih Borneo FC kini tengah dalam tren positif setelah pada pekan sebelumnya menahan imbang Persija Jakarta 1-1.
Pelatih asal Portugal tersebut melanjutkan, anak-anak asuhnya siap melakoni permainan Borneo FC, terlebih persiapan yang berjalan bagus jelang pertandingan.
“Saya harap, saya harap kita bisa bermain bagus besok (hari ini). Tetap kompetitif, fokus, dan raih poin di sini. Kami tahu bahwa kami tidak dalam situasi yang baik, kami harus fokus dan bekerja lebih keras dan kami harus berkonsentrasi 96, atau 98 menit, hingga peluit panjang,” tegas Menezes.
Diketahui Madura United pada lima pertandingan terakhirnya selalu menelan kekalahan pada ajang Liga 1 Indonesia dari Persija Jakarta, Arema FC, Persebaya Surabaya, Persik Kediri dan terbaru Semen Padang.
Madura United harus mengamankan kemenangan agar bisa setidaknya mengangkat posisi mereka di klasemen sementara Liga 1 Indonesia setelah kini berada di peringkat 18 dengan enam poin dari 14 pertandingan.
Sementara itu, lawan mereka Borneo FC kini di peringkat enam klasemen sementara Liga 1 Indonesia dengan 23 poin dari 14 pertandingan.
