Speedboat yang sedang ditumpangi salah satu calon Gubernur Maluku Utara, Benny Laos, terbakar di Pelabuhan Bobong, Pulau Taliabu, hari ini, Sabtu, 12 Oktober 2024. Lima orang dikabarkan tewas dalam peristiwa ini.
Kapolres Pulau Taliabu Ajun Komisaris Besar Totok Handoyo mengatakan speedboat tersebut mengangkut 41 penumpang. Kapal ini terbakar saat proses pengisian bahan bakar di Pelabuhan Bobong.
Totok menuturkan rombongan ini sebenarnya hendak berangkat menuju Desa Kawalo, Taliabu Barat, untuk menghadiri acara kampanye
Menurut Totok, saat evakuasi kondisi calon Gubernur Maluku Utara Benny Laos dalam keadaan kritis dan dilakukan pompa jantung. Korban mengalami patah kaki dan luka bakar. Korban terjebak di dalam speed saat kebakaran terjadi.
“Ada beberapa orang yang bersama, tapi semua sudah dievakuasi ke rumah sakit,”kata Totok pada Tempo, Sabtu, 12 Oktober 2024.
